Project
My audio- visual project is an expedition through areas of disturbed idyll – as a laboratory of contrasts and mergers.
In the performances of „black wooden journey“ on drums and laptop I approach the diverse possibilities of analog and digital media. I try to open fragments of romantic spaces. The processual and over again broken linear movement through „scenic spaces for yearning“ is the essential experience that sets while listeninig and watching.
Music-Video-Performance
I’m working on the development of an experimental, interdisciplinary complex of work in which painting, video and music permeates each other. The basic principle of my music and pictures is the combination of reproduction and improvisation.
In my music, the collage-like structure of the tracks is formed by arranged sequences as well as samples of grooves, patterns, sounds and melodies.
In my live performances the playback material (such as loops and soundtracks) is accompanied by me on acoustic and electronic drums – accented or counteracted. The musical flow thereby is permanently broken and destroyed in its order. Organized structures are built up into an ordered and repetitive sequence, to get back, torn into fragments and to collapse into chaos . Synchronized to the sound video clips and stills appear in visual correspondence as projection on a screen in the background.
Synthetic Painting
My painting are the starting material for my music video animations. It develops in the interplay of analog reproduction technology and digital image processing. I confront the handmade painting with the modern technical potential of creative editing and reproduction. In my paintings I want to merge the contrast between perceived gesture and rigid mechanics to a painterly synthesis. I use forms and structures from nature, which I edit digitally and transform them to stencils. Fragments of drawings and photos are transformed onto this carrier material for reproduction – just like a flexible and editable sample – to make them available for my painting. My pictures show sequences that allow us to perceive a larger and floating context – similar to my music videos and like a still in their sectional character.

Mein audio-visuelles Projekt versteht sich als Expedition durch Gebiete gestörter Idylle, als Laboratorium der Gegensätze und Verschmelzungen.
Bei den performativen Aufführungen von „blackwooden journey“ an Drums und Laptop ertaste ich die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten analoger und digitaler Medien. Ich versuche, Fragmente romantischer Räume zu öffnen. Die prozesshafte und immer wieder gebrochene lineare Bewegung durch „landschaftliche Sehnsuchtsräume“ ist das wesentliche Ereignis, das sich beim Hören und Sehen einstellt.
Musik-Video-Performance
Ich arbeite an der Entwicklung eines experimentellen, interdisziplinären Werkkomplexes, in dem sich Malerei, Video und Musik durchdringen. Das Grundprinzip meiner Musik und Bilder ist die Kombination von Reproduktion und Improvisation.
In der Musik bildet sich die collagenartige Struktur der Stücke aus arrangierten Sequenzen sowie aus Samples von Grooves, Patterns, Sounds und Melodien.
In der Live-Performance wird das Playback-Material in Form von Loops und Soundtracks von mir am akustischen und elektronischen Schlagzeug begleitet, akzentuiert oder konterkariert. Der musikalische Fluss wird dabei in seiner Ordnung immer wieder gebrochen und zerstört. Organisierte Strukturen bauen sich auf zu einem geordneten und sich wiederholenden Ablauf, um wieder, in Fragmente zerrissen, ins Chaotische einzustürzen. Synchronisiert dazu erscheinen Video-Clips und Stills in visueller Entsprechung als Projektion auf einer Leinwand im Hintergrund.
Synthetische Malerei
Meine Malerei ist das Ausgangsmaterial für die vertonten Videoanimationen. Sie entsteht im Spannungsfeld zwischen analoger Reproduktionstechnik und digitaler Bildbearbeitung. Ich konfrontiere die Hand-Malerei mit den modernen technischen Möglichkeiten bildnerischer Bearbeitung und Vervielfältigung. In meinen Bildern will ich den Gegensatz von empfundener Geste und starrer Mechanik malerisch zu einer Synthese verschmelzen. Ich verwende Formen und Strukturen aus der Natur, die ich digital bearbeite und in Schablonen übertrage. Wie ein flexibel editierbares Sample werden Ausschnitte von Zeichnungen und Fotos auf diesen Reproduktionsträger transformiert, um sie für die Malerei verfügbar zu machen. Meine Bilder zeigen Sequenzen, die analog zu meinen Musik-Videos, wie ein Still in ihrer Ausschnitthaftigkeit einen größeren, fließenden Zusammenhang erahnen lassen.
